Moldovan government, parliament join efforts to implement EU Association Agreement

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/-Cabinet members, parliament leadership and the members of parliamentary commissions held a working meeting today to examine draft laws included in the legislative programme on the implementation of Moldova-EU Association Agreement during spring session 2016. The government has also unveiled its priorities for the abovementioned period, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the government was fully involved in fulfilling its commitments to implement the association agreement, adding that it will take the necessary measures to fill in the gaps within the established deadline.
“The Governmental Commission for EU integration held a meeting last week. We tracked problems and carried out a calendar to eliminate arrears, so that we could return to the regulatory implementation of the association agreement. We aim to hold such meetings periodically to ensure a further efficient collaboration,” Filip said.
Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu has also emphasized the important need for the government and parliament to organize joint meetings. “It is very important that we hold such meetings periodically. We will set up intervals of time to harmonize the activity of the commissions and the parliament, with the government’s agenda,” Candu noted.
The joint agenda of the Moldovan government and parliament includes issues related to the justice reform, integrity law package, fight against corruption and stabilization of the financial-banking sector.
