Germany to further back Transnistrian conflict's settlement during OSCE chairmanship

Chisinau, 13 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur held a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s foreign and security policy councilor, Christoph Heusgen, during Munich Security Conference today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
During the meeting, officials discussed current issues on the Moldovan-German bilateral agenda, focusing on the promotion of the political dialogue, enforcement of reforms provided in the EU Association Agreement, priorities of the new Moldovan government, as well as prospects to settle the Transnistrian conflict.
The German official emphasized the importance of the new government’s full commitment to consistently and fully implement the provisions of the association agreement, and in particular, to fight corruption, implement the justice reform, improve the social-political situation and resume dialogue with development partners. Heusgen confirmed Germany’s availability to back the five-plus-two negotiations in its tenure of OSCE acting chairman, in order to find a solution for the Transnistrian conflict.
For his part, Galbur reiterated the new government’s firm willingness to take full efforts to enforce its entire EU agenda and boost up Moldova’s social, political and economic situation. The Moldovan official thanked Germany for its valuable support, especially for its efforts to back the Transnistrian conflict’s settlement.
