USA encourages Moldovan authorities to take measures to settle country's pressing problems

Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur on 13 February had a meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State Victoria Nuland, on the sidelines of the annual Security Conference from Munich, Germany, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

The two officials exchanged opinions on topical issues on the bilateral agenda, the Moldovan government’s priorities, political evolutions in Moldova.

The U.S. official reiterated the importance to carry out, without delay, the reforms assumed by Moldova, in particular, the ones concerning the justice system, fighting corruption, ensuring the supremacy of law, improving the situation in the financial and banking system. Victoria Nuland encouraged the Moldovan authorities to take needed measures with a view to settling the pressing problems and upgrade the situation in Moldova.  

For his part, Minister Andrei Galbur gave assurances that the new Moldovan cabinet was firmly resolute to fulfill the commitments taken to regain the confidence of the citizens and the foreign development partners.

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur participates in the 52nd issue of the Munich Security Conference on 12-14 February. The forum’s agenda includes the most relevant issues of international security and cooperation, as well as challenges and threats to the European security, regional crises, conflict in Syria and the refugees’ crisis.
