Economics Ministry makes specifications on price of gas imported in 2015

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/- The Economics Ministry on 17 February issued a press release containing specifications on formation of prices for gas purchased from Gazprom giant, after the press wrote, under a report by Gazprom, that the gas import price had been lower than the one earlier announced by authorities.

The estimated price for gas supply was about 204 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters in the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2015. The Economics Ministry referred to this figure at that time. Subsequently, however, the Gazprom company confirmed the 181.29-dollar price per 1,000 cubic meters.

During the quarter, the Moldovagaz company recalculated this price depending on the caloric value; as a result, the real price was 185.34 dollars in October, 183.97 –in November and respectively, 184.31 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters in December, 2015, the communiqué said. Thus, the average price for gas supplied by Gazprom to Moldova was 184.39 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The average price for gas procurement amounted to 255.98 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters in 2015.

Under the contract signed with Gazprom, the estimated price for gas is set quarterly on 1 January, 1 April, 1 July and 1 October, depending on changes in the prices for diesel and fuel oil, and is presented by the Russian concern, and the final price is announced by the ongoing mid-term.   

Additionally, in line with the contract terms, Moldovagaz monthly recalculates the estimated price on the basis of the calorific value registered in the respective month, the Economics Ministry also said.
