Moldovan government approves calendar to remove arrears in association agreement’s implementation

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip chaired a meeting of the governmental commission for EU integration on 17 February, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In the beginning of the meeting, Filip required that the road-map for the implementation of the association agreement be completed as soon as possible. The prime minister touched upon the conclusions the EU Foreign Affairs Council made on 15 February on Moldova’s situation.
Filip welcomed EU’s reconfirmation of its commitment to enhance political association and economic integration, as well as the reiteration of its support for the implementation of reforms. Moreover, the Moldovan prime minister said the government’s priorities, unveiled in the letter he had addressed to European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, coincided with the recommendations included in the conclusions of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
During the meeting, the officials have also examined the current stage of the efforts taken to remove arrears in the enforcement of the National Action Plan on the implementation of Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
During the previous meeting, Filip required that the arrears left in 2014-2015 be solved as soon as possible. To this effect, authorities in charge carried out and approved a calendar for the removal of arrears in the implementation of the association agreement. Each of them shall report on current problems and measures taken to fill in the gaps.
At the suggestion of the Moldovan prime minister, the meetings of the governmental commission for EU integration will be organised weekly, after each of the cabinet’s meetings.
