United Nations to back Moldova to achieve goals set in sustainable development agenda 2030

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today met United Nations Resident Coordinator, UN Development Programme Resident Representative in Moldova Dafina Gercheva, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and information service has reported.
The sides exchanged opinions on Moldova’s agenda of cooperation with UN institutions and specialized agencies. Galbur highlighted the importance of projects implemented with the assistance of UNDP in Moldova and foreign development partners included in the country programme for 2013-2017. Among the priority sectors, there are the following: human rights, inclusive human development, environmental protection and energy efficiency. Also, the minister reiterated the country’s interest in continuing the projects focused on promoting the confidence building measures, in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process.
For her part, the UN Resident Coordinator gave assurances that her organization would further back Moldova in carrying out the priorities of national policies, in order to meet the global goals set in the sustainable development agenda 2030. In this context, she welcomed Andrei Galbur’s intention to attend a ministerial meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary of UNDP creation, due in New York on 24 February.
