Moldovan deputy premier delivers lecture on Transnistrian settlement to Pedagogical University students

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan today delivered a lecture titled, „Conflictul transnistrean şi procesul de reglementare” (Transnistrian Conflict and Settlement Process) to students of the history and geography faculty of the Chisinau-based Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
In his lecture, the deputy prime minister referred to the origin and character of the conflict, that was an artificial one, as well as to its negative repercussions on the residents from the two banks of Dniester. The lecture aroused interest of students, who got involved into an interactive dialogue. The students were interested in the present situation and prospects for advancement in the negotiating process, as well as in the actions undertaken by the government to promote the goal of Moldova's reintegration.
Gheorghe Balan stressed that all Moldova's efforts were aimed at identifying a lasting solution to the Transnistrian problem, due to provide for the working out of a special legal status for the region, by observing Moldova's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In the end, the deputy prime minister answered a string of questions.
