Romanian government approves humanitarian aid worth 83 million lei for Moldova

Chisinau, 18 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Romanian government today approved a free of charge humanitarian assistance worth 16.690 million Romanian lei (83.7 million Moldovan lei), in response to requests on behalf of Moldovan authorities.
The humanitarian assistance will consist of basic food products (wheat, sugar, corn flour, rice, flour paste ware, canned meat, canned pate, canned vegetables), as well as fuel oil. The products will be got out of the state reserves, managed by the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Issues, according to a press release by the Romanian cabinet.
As for the foodstuffs, the National Administration of State Reserves will bear the transport expenses from its own incomes, and to carry the fuel oil, the Romanian government earmarked 3.13 million lei from the Budgetary Reserve Fund for supplementing the budget of the Internal Affairs Ministry.
Under the today’s decision, the Romanian cabinet answers petitions by the Moldovan government. During a 26 January visit to Romania, Prime Minister Pavel Filip unveiled the social and economic context in which the new Moldovan cabinet started its mandate. At the same time, he appealed to Romania’s support. In a letter sent to Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos on 10 February, the Moldovan prime minister requested that the authorities of Romania provide humanitarian assistance to back vulnerable families hit by the difficult economic situation from Moldova.
