Moldovan foreign ministry updates warning of travel to Greece

Chisinau, 19 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) informs the Moldovan citizens intending to travel to/across Greece that Greek farmers continue the protests started on 9 February 2016, blocking the national roads and highways for an indefinite period, including the ones connected to the border checkpoints/customs points of Greece, the MAEIE information and media communication service has reported.

Thus, the following roads have been blocked:

1. The Tempi Valley, Larissa region (Athens-Thessaloniki route), blocked for an indefinite period.

2. The Nikea-Thessalia crossroad (Athens-Thessaloniki route), blocked for an indefinite period.

3. The Kerdvllia region, Egnatia Road, blocked for an indefinite period.  

4. The Eleonas, Thiva and Kastro region (Athens-Thessaloniki route) blocked for an indefinite period.

5. The Bralos region (Athens-Lamia route) blocked for an indefinite period.

6. The Corinth Canal region (Athens-Corinth route) blocked for an indefinite period.

7. The Mikrothives zone (Athens-Thessaloniki route) blocked for an indefinite period.

8. The Kefalovrysos - Aitoloakarnania region, (Antirio – Ioannina route) blocked for an indefinite period.

9. Difficulties may be faced in the Thessaloniki region in the direction of Athens for short periods of time.

10. The Athens-Lamia national road (between the 20 and 30 km) blocked for an indefinite period.

11. The Athens-Koropi national road (route Athens - towards the Venizelos International Airport of Athens) blocked starting from 17 February 2016.

Also, it is recommended that Moldovans avoid groundless travels to the Athens region, as well as making visits to the city’s centre and tourist regions, taking into account estimations that mass protests for an indefinite period are possible in the Greek capital too.
