Moldovan PM meets war veterans

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip today met representatives of the veterans organisations. They discussed the settlement of problems faced by war veterans and people who have worked in power institutions of Moldova, the government's communication and media relations department has reported.

Filip invited the representatives of veterans to hold a sincere and open talk about their problems, which need the government's involvement. Also, he informed them that the government had set up an organizing committee to hold the events dedicated to the Remembrance Day. "The representatives of government will participate in all commemoration actions of tragic events", he said.

Filip also tackled the government's goals and pointed out the need and usefulness for veterans' involvement in solving the problems they face. In this context, he called for the problems to  be settled together with the state institutions.

The vererans welcomed the premier's invitation to the dialogue and came up with a string of concrete proposals which could solve more problems, as well as with opinions and suggestions on improvement of social and political situation in the country. It is about the need to approve the ammendments to the legislation in order to remove deficiencies and provisions that work against the war veterans and those who  have worked in the power institutions, but failed to participate in military actions.

The participants approached a string of issues related to ensuring social protection, healthcare, rehabilitation and treating war invalids.

In this context, the premier noted that the government opted for a complex and systemic approach of problems and found sustainable solutions to them.

The premier expressed the government's openness to a continuous dialgue with the veterans organisations so that together identify the best solutions to the problems faced by the veterans, as well as to strengthen the possibilities for the veterans organisations to participate in the decisions related not to the issue of this category, but of the entire country.
