Moldovan fiscal body's head reappointed to office

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/- Economist Serghei Puscuta has been appointed head of the State Principal Fiscal Inspectorate starting from 22 February, under an order by the finance minister.
Puscuta was introduced to the staff of the institution by Finance Minister Octavian Armasu. The main goals that must be met by the institution are to efficiently collect revenues, modernize the fiscal service and improve the business environment, the minister said.
Serghei Puscuta returns to the office he held in 2005-2008. Puscuta has an impressive CV. In 2008, he served as director of the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption, and in 2008-2009 – adviser to the Moldovan president on financial issues. For a short period, he was an expert within the World Bank Competitiveness Improvement Project; subsequently, Puscuta held the office of head of the Insurers’ Union from Moldova, and later as director general of JLC company.
The former head of the State Principal Fiscal Inspectorate, Ion Prisacaru, submitted an application on resignation from office on 29 January, after Prime Minister Pavel Filip had demanded suspension from office of the heads of the fiscal and customs services.
