Moldova, Italy to boost up bilateral ties

Chisinau, 22 February /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip met Italian Ambassador to Moldova Enrico Nunziata today. During the meeting, the officials discussed the main aspects of Moldovan-Italian cooperation in various fields, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Filip praised the fact that Moldovan-Italian cooperation, based on traditional friendship ties, has been continuously developing upwards for more than 24 years. He voiced Moldova’s interest in enhancing the political dialogue.
“Italy is an active promoter of Moldova’s interests and efforts to modernize and align with the EU standards. We want to continue this collaboration,” the prime minister said.
Filip reiterated the government’s interest in signing a Moldovan-Italian bilateral cooperation agreement in the social security field, taking into account the large number of Moldovan citizens working in Italy and the efforts to protect their interests.
For his part, Nunziata noted that Italy was willing to back Moldova in the promotion of reforms and turn the potential of Moldovan-Italian ties to good account in priority fields.
The sides have also tackled the need to boost up the economic and investment cooperation, and thus, resume traditional economic forums, which offer a good opportunity to develop the dialogue between Moldovan state institutions and business people and their Italian partners.
