Moldovan, Turkish officials broach bilateral ties

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Gheorghe Balan met Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal on 22 February, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
The ambassador conveyed a congratulatory message to Balan on his appointment as deputy prime minister responsible for carrying out policies in country’s reintegration, as well as success in his activity.
The sides exchanged opinions about the Moldovan-Turkish bilateral relations, and ascertained the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries.
A special topic was related to the Transnistrian settlement problem. Balan said that identifying a viable political solution to the Transnistrian conflict, based on peaceful principles, by observing sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, represented the final goal of the negotiation process.
The officials approached current issues on the agenda of negotiation process.
Balan reiterated the intention of the new government to boost the Transnistrian conflict settlement process within the five plus two format, as well as within the other dialogue platforms.
The ambassador thanked the deputy premier for maintaining a constructive dialogue and confirmed his willingness to cooperate in future, including in promoting confidence building initiatives between the people from both banks of the Dniestre.
Balan thanked the ambassador for the interest in strengthening bilateral ties between both countries.
