Competition commission examines applicants' files for position of National Bank of Moldova governor

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/- The files of the applicants for the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) have been examined by the contest commission, the parliament’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The commission for selecting a candidate for the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) held its first meeting today, attended by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
Nine candidates- Roman Cernisev, Vadim Brinzan, Sergiu Cioclea, Serghei Melnik, Valeriu Chitan, Victor Timotin, Gheorghe Dimitrov, Sergiu Iachim and Vladimir Munteanu applied for this position. The applicants’ files have been made public on the parliament’s web page. At the speaker’s request, their reference letters will also be made public.
“The number of applications clearly shows that there are Moldovan citizens abroad who care about their country; there are young people who had been left for more years, however, are ready to return and contribute to Moldova’s development and it is worth praising. We are pleasantly surprised to find out that there are qualified Moldovan overseas and witness their willingness to return home, though their income would be much lower here compared to what they earned abroad,” Candu noted.
The members of the commission said one of the candidates was going to supplement his application with all the necessary documents, while other two candidates shall bring evidence to confirm their experience of at least ten years in the financial or monetary sector. The commission decided that the candidates submit the information by 26 February, so that interviews are organized in the beginning of the next week. Also, given the fact that some of the candidates are currently abroad, interviews will be carried out via video-conference or telephone. Based on the results of the interviews, the commission will select a candidate, who will further be presented in the parliament.
“The commission wants to set up the assessment criteria and score for the interview questions by Friday. It is a proposal submitted by the colleagues from the associative environment and we are glad to perform such an expertise in order to increase the transparency and objectivity of the candidates’ assessment process,” the head of the commission for selecting a candidate for the office of BNM governor, Stefan Creanga said.
