Moldovan democrat MP to attend OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s winter session

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/-The head of the Moldovan parliament’s delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), MP Sergiu Sirbu participates in the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, in Vienna, on 25-26 February, the parliament’s communication and media relations department has reported.
During the meeting, the officials will participate in debates on the crisis of migrants and refugees in the OSCE zone, efforts to consolidate collective responsibility, combating terrorism and crisis in Ukraine.
According to the agenda, the session will include the meetings of the three OSCE committees- committee for democracy, human rights and humanitarian problems; committee for political and security affairs and the committee for economic, scientific, technological and environment affairs. The Standing Committee and three general committees of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will also hold meetings. The sides will hold talks on the preparation of reports for the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s annual session, due in Tbilisi on 1-5 July 2016.
Welcome speeches will be given by OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Ilkka Kanerva, President of the Austrian National Council Doris Bures and Special Representative of Germany for OSCE Chairmanship Gernot Erler. Many other officials will also hold speeches, including OSCE Secretary-General Lamberto Zannier, Director of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Michael Link, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Dunja Mijatović and OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Astrid Thors.
Almost 300 MPs from 57 OSCE member-states are expected to attend the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
