Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/- A national quick alert system for food and animal feed will be created, in order to fulfill the commitments provided in Moldova-EU Association Agreement. To this effect, the government today approved a draft law amending the legislation on the creation and functioning principles of this system.
According to the draft law, the system is an efficient tool to notify of the risks food and animal feed may expose humans to. The new mechanism aims to inform people of the food safety, in order to prevent them from exposing their health to possible risks.
Part of the quick alert system is the National Food Safety Agency, Health Ministry, Interior Ministry, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, Customs Service and the Consumers Protection Agency. If a member of the system has certain information on the existence of a serious, direct or indirect risk for human health, caused by food products or animal feed, it should immediately submit it through the quick alert system to the National Food Safety Agency.
