Moldova could get significant discounts on electric energy acquisition price

Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic during the cabinet meeting today said Moldova could obtain “significant discounts” on the electrical energy acquisition price for 2016-2017.

“The national Energocom provider, which is the main importer of electrical energy, is currently holding talks with more tenderers on Moldova’s energy supply. I believe we will have a more clear vision by the end of this week, however, we already have signs showing us that we may count on significant discounts,” Calmic said.

Calmic added that no numbers could be unveiled so far, as negotiations were still going on. “We will make public the exact data included in the contract, as soon as we end negotiations,” Calmic said.

“We held negotiations with the leadership of Gas Natural Fenosa and agreed on an understanding memorandum and an action plan to settle financial deviation from 2015, which had not been taken into account during the calculation of the tariff. We also want to find a solution for the suspension of the international arbitration through which Moldova has been drawn into a dispute by this company,” the economics minister said.
