Chisinau, 24 February /MOLDPRES/ - The government, at a today’s meeting, approved amendment and completion of provisions of the Criminal Code, Criminal Procedure Code and Criminal Law Enforcement Code, in terms of strengthening the juvenile probation system, through excluding measures of constraint applied against minors and replacing them by educative measures, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The new amendments establish the implementation of educative measures on minors who committed an offence, by involving them in programmes on correcting the social behavior and social reintegration, participation in compulsory general education or qualification courses. The court will take into account the age of the minor, social environment, in which he/she is brought up, as well as the character and degree of damage of the offence committed by the minor.
The document was worked out in the context of implementation of the justice sector reform strategy, in line with Moldova’s international commitments. The act’s goal is to ensure a friendly and accessible justice to child, focused on the latter’s needs and rights.
