Moldovan foreign minister meets UN Development Programme administrator

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur on 24 February had a meeting with Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Helen Clark, on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the UNDP’s foundation, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The two officials highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Moldova and UNDP in the process of implementing the Moldova 2020 Medium Term National Development Strategy, as well as the UN-Moldova Partnership Framework (UNPF) 2013-2017. Also, the sides evoked the successful carrying out of national consultations on the development agenda post-2015, in order to set the national goals in the context of completing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted at the Summit on Sustainable Development from 25 September 2015.
Minister Galbur confirmed the new Moldovan government’s firm commitment to promote comprehensive reforms, in order to settle the pressing economic and social problems, faced by the society. He stressed the UNDP’s important role in carrying out the government’s action programme. The minister highly appreciated the professionalism proved by UNDP on all the period of its work in Moldova.
Helen Clark thanked the Moldovan minister for the positive appreciations given to the UNDP’s activity in Moldova and the support provided by MAEIE in process of implementing the UNDP projects. She reiterated the UNDP’s willingness to continue the constructive cooperation with Moldova’s central and local authorities, in order to ensure a high efficiency of UNDP’s initiatives and country programmes.
