Moldovan PM, World Bank representative discuss cooperation, support

Chisinau, 25 February /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip World Bank’s representative, Country Director for Moldova, Europe and Central Asia Alex Kremer today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
On behalf of World Bank, Kremer congratulated Filip on his investiture as prime minister.
The officials discussed a wide range of subjects, including the macroeconomic evolution, situation of banking sector, as well as the budget support programme for the implementation of structural reforms and boosting up Moldova’s economic development.
Filip reconfirmed the Moldovan government’s commitment to promote reforms and take concrete measures to regain the confidence of Moldova’s citizens and foreign development partners. The prime minister noted that the government had already taken some important measures, touching upon on its decision to approve a package of legislative amendments on the consolidation of the financial-banking sector, integrity and other decisions meant to boost up the fulfillment of Moldova’s commitments at the international level.
The prime minister has also spoken about his cabinet’s priority short and medium-term goals, emphasizing the actions that are being taken to achieve them and ensure Moldova’s sustainable development. Filip highlighted that development partners played an essential role in this process, and the government counted on their support.
For his part, the World Bank country director praised the dynamic activity of the government headed by Pavel Filip. “Personally, I see a more active government. We praise the open dialogue and collaboration spirit of some minister we have recently met,” Kremer said.
Kremer spoke out for a further dialogue and consolidation of cooperation in the energy and informational technologies sector, as well as in the promotion of the business regulatory reform. At the same time, the official voiced his availability to start new assistance and expertise projects, in the banking sector inclusively. “We want Moldovan people to feel the World Bank’s contribution to improving their life standards,” Kremer concluded.
