The sides have also discussed the parliament’s priorities for its spring session, meant to ensure an appropriate legislative framework to reform the financial-banking system and enhance the efficiency of surveillance mechanisms in this field.
The officials focused on the development procedure and method of the new contest for selecting a candidate for the position of governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). IMF experts welcomed the parliament’s transparency and openness to inform the public opinion of the evolution of the contest for selecting a BNM governor.
Candu thanked IMF for offering the Moldovan parliament technical expertise to help it align national legislation with international standards. He also voiced recognition for the assistance provided by the IMF’s local team of experts.
According to the speaker, the efforts authorities take are currently meant to ensure stability, boost up key-reforms and also regain trust of citizens and Moldova’s foreign partners. “We know what we have to do and we are determined to make progress with the enforcement of reforms and implementation of the Association Agreement.
