Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The leaders of protesters from the Moldovan capital today discussed the present situation in Moldova with European Union representatives, on a visit to Chisinau.
The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Igor Dodon, leader of Our Party, Renato Usatii, leader of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), Maia Sandu and the leader of the Dignity and Truth Platform party, Andrei Nastase, participated in the meeting.
According to the PSRM leader, the participants in the meeting discussed “the carrying out of reforms, present resignations, problems in the banking sector, eventual scenarios and holding of snap elections. We informed that the Socialists speak out for the last variant,” Dodon said.
Following the discussion, Renato Usatii said the European Union delegation had informed that the present government was ready to discuss with the opposition. “We said that we will not hold dialogue with the parliamentary majority, as the latter does not assume the commitments before citizens. If to speak about the scenarios to follow, we are set to impede the election of a president put up by this government,” Usatii noted.
“This was an informative dialogue. We told the EU representatives about the situation in Moldova. These officials attempt to carry out a dialogue between the government and the opposition leaders. We informed that what happens in the country now is miming of the implementation of certain reforms; the citizens have no confidence in the current leadership and feel that a deep change is needed in the country,” Andrei Nastase specified.
Also today, the EU delegation members had a meeting with Prime Minister Pavel Filip, during which the PM confirmed the cabinet’s determination to implement the reforms, which represent an essential element to regain the trust of foreign partners and citizens.
“It is doubtless that the expectations of EU, development partners and, in fact, of the society, are that we urgently move on priority reform fields. To this end, we have worked out and approved the Roadmap, which includes the actions that are to be carried out till 31 July 2016, a term connected to the end of the parliament’s spring session as well,” Pavel Filip said.
