Commission for selecting candidate for post of National Bank of Moldova governor approves criteria of assessing nine candidates

Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - The criteria of assessing the candidates for the office of Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) today were approved at a meeting of the contest commission, led by the head of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances, Stefan Creanga. Attending the event was Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

The main criteria on the basis of which the candidates will be evaluated are political independence, experience in basic banking activities, experience in top management, vision on the development of Moldova’s banking sector.

The maximal number of points a candidate may accumulate is 100, distributed depending on the criteria’s relevance.

The head of the contest commission, Stefan Creanga, said that all the nine candidates had been admitted to the interview test. “We have established that, on 2 March, we will have interviews with three candidates through online communication means, and another four candidates will come personally to the interview on 3 March at 9:00. Two candidates are to specify the way of interviewing,” Stefan Creanga said.   

On 12 February, the parliament launched a new contest of selecting the candidate for the office of BNM governor. Nine candidates submitted their files for the contest: Roman Cernisev, Vadim Brinzan, Sergiu Cioclea, Serghei Melnik, Valeriu Chitan, Victor Timotin, Gheorghe Dimitrov, Sergiu Iachim and Vladimir Munteanu.
