Moldovan premier, Ukrainian ambassador discuss bilateral ties

Chisinau, 1 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Ivan Gnatishin. The officials discussed a wide range of subjects on the present stage of the Moldovan-Ukrainian relations and prospects for their development in diverse fields, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.   

The prime minister appreciated the dynamic of the bilateral ties and spoke out for deepening the cooperation between the two states. “The bilateral dialogue is developing constructively and I hope that we will further boost it, both in the political and economic areas,” the prime minister said. In this context, Pavel Filip stressed the importance to bolster the work of the inter-governmental commission for cooperation in the commercial and economic sector and to organise a meeting of this commission as soon as possible.  

For his part, the Ukrainian ambassador to Moldova expressed his country’s openness for a constructive and mutually advantageous collaboration. Ivan Gnatishin reiterated the firm stance of Ukraine on the support for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “Ukraine, as mediator in the negotiating process, will actively contribute to settling the Transnistrian problem, which we see only through carrying out a political dialogue,” the official specified.   

The sides also discussed possibility to extend economic partnerships between Moldova and Ukraine and initiate investment projects with the participation of Romania, through diverse cooperation platforms, including Euro-regions.
