Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/- The electricity tariff might drop by 10 per cent for end consumers just starting from March. Prime Minister Pavel Filip today made statements to this effect after a working meeting focused on electric energy supply.
The prime minister said there were possibilities for making a decrease in price for electricity on the next period. “This might happen just during next April. Finally, we can speak about a price cut in two stages. The first one – up to 10 per cent, for which we have to wait for the decision by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) in March. The second drop of prices may occur in April”, he said.
The premier said that the procurement contract had been signed one month before term, which led to getting a better price than the one in the previous contract.
“The Economics Ministry is to come up with technical data on the signing of this contract, and the National Energy Regulatory Agency is to make all calculations, taking into account this information, and submit the final price for consumers as soon as possible”, he added.
Presently, household consumers connected to low voltage networks served by Gas Natural Fenosa pay 2.16 lei per 1 KW/hour, the ones served by RED Nord SA – 2.23 lei and RED Nord-Vest consumers pay 2.22 lei per 1 kW/hour.
The contract with the companies currently providing electricity, Kuchurgan power station and Energocom, expires on 31 March 2016.
