Commission selects Sergiu Cioclea as candidate for National Bank of Moldova governor position

Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/-The head of the commission for selecting a candidate for National Bank of Moldova (BNM) governor office, Stefan Creanga today, said the commission nominated Sergiu Cioclea as a candidate for this position.
“Cioclea is the candidate for BNM governor office we have submitted Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu for further approval by the parliament. He gathered 903 points out of 1000,” Creanga said.
The candidate will have to get at least 51 votes from the MPs to be able to fill in this position.
Sergiu Cioclea, who is 42 years old, has been working in the financial-banking sector for more than 17 years. He holds master and postgraduate study degrees at the Pantheon-Assas university from Paris. He speaks Romanian, French, English and Russian. Cioclea also holds Moldovan, Romanian and French citizenship.
Sergiu Cioclea was part of the administration boards of several banking institutions, with a large experience in management, surveillance, commercial development and project management fields. He added in his CV that he was also a specialized economist for emergent markets, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, Commonwealth of Independent States and Turkey. He also specializes on fusions and acquisitions, management and administration of assets and risk capital.
He was gradually an associate, deputy president and director of the Central and Eastern Europe branch of BNP Baribas’ (Paris) corporate finance department between 2000 and 2007.
