Moldovan economics ministry, in partnership with EU Delegation to Moldova to launch information campaign on DCFTA

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics Ministry, in partnership with the European Union Delegation to Moldova, will launch a national information and communication campaign on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Economics Minister Octavian Calmic made statements to this effect at a conference titled, Efficient Informing for Business from Moldova. 

Octavian Calmic stressed that, concomitantly with the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement with EU DCFTA, it is necessary to boost communication and the business environment should be more actively informed regionally, through the agency of a national campaign focused on DCFTA, which will integrate all efforts on communication of the central and local public authorities, donors and civil society.     

“We know that the partners have established actions of support on communication concerning DCFTA; therefore, we are set, within a national campaign, to integrate the efforts of communication of all institutions and partners on the platform of the Economics Ministry, to coordinate actions of informing and messages, so that their impact is maximal in the end. Given that this is for the first time ever for Moldova, we rely on partners’ support,” the economics minister said.   

For his part, Head of the EU Delegation to Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola said the partnership with the authorities and business environment was very important for an efficient communication, which is to meet expectations of the business community on developing business, in the context of DCFTA.   

In a speech given at the conference, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Valeriu Lazar focused on conclusions of the first experiences of enforcing DCFTA since its entry into force till present, highlighting the influence of external and internal factors on this process. At the same time, Lazar said that, to achieve the DCFTA goals, it is necessary, in continuation, to enhance competitiveness, diversify sales markets, improve the investment climate, carry out policies and modernise the national economy.   

The event, in which over 100 representatives of small- and medium-sized enterprises participated, continued with a presentation of studies on the degree of Moldovan companies’ preparation for turning DCFTA to good account, and ended with an open debate with entrepreneurs and key people of this sector.
