Moldovan deputy PM, Georgian ambassador discuss bilateral ties, reintegration issues

Chisinau, 10 March /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan held a meeting with Georgian Ambassador to Moldova Merab Antadze today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.

The officials discussed the consolidation of Moldovan-Georgian ties, Transnistrian issue and sector reintegration policies.

Balan spoke about the latest developments of the negotiations and priorities of the government’s action programme related to Moldova’s reintegration and consolidation of statehood.

The deputy prime minister highlighted the important need to resume five-plus-two negotiations without forwarding pre-conditions, in order to meet the strategic goal and find a comprehensive solution to settle the Transnistrian conflict, observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and also provide the Transnistrian region with a special juridical status. The Moldovan official also emphasized the important need for current dialogue platforms to keep going on and boost up interaction between Chisinau and Tiraspol.

The Georgian ambassador was also informed of the essence of promoting confidence-building measures and their aim to help residents of both banks of Dniester approach and also create premises for Transnistria’s gradual reintegration into Moldova’s single space.

The sides tackled the important role of foreign partners and their help to advance the settlement process.

At the end of the meeting, Antadze thanked Balan for the dialogue and voiced Georgia’s support for Moldova’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. The Georgian official confirmed his availability to help consolidate the bilateral political dialogue and enhance commercial-economic ties.
