Moldovan PM chairs first meeting of national council for public administration reform

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip today chaired the first meeting of the national council for public administration reform, created by a government decision issued on 12 October 2015. The participants in the meeting examined the current state of the public administration reform in Moldova and discussed the main functioning aspects of the council, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
Filip confirmed that this reform was an absolute priority, being part of the government’s action programme and also of the road map of EU commitments.
“The modernization of the public administration is extremely important for our society. Serving its citizens should be the basic functioning principle of this institution,” Filip noted. He added that it was important to ensure transparency and enhance the capacities of Moldova’s public services through new methods and technologies.
Attending the meeting were more representatives of international institutions and diplomatic missions. They welcomed the government’s determination to speed up the implementation of the public administration reform, voicing their availability to back this process.
Therefore, the sides agreed to join their efforts to complete the draft of the public administration reform strategy by late April 2016.
They also decided that the council will meet periodically once the elaboration of the strategy advances, in order to examine the suggestions brainstormed during consultations and ensure the promotion of the strategy. Subsequently, the council will meet at least once in three months to coordinate and monitor the public administration reform.
