Moldovan parliament accepts resignation of National Bank of Moldova governor, deputy governor

Chisinau, 11 March /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today accepted the resignation of Governor and First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), Dorin Dragutanu and Marin Molosag, respectively. The resignation will enter into force on 11 April 2016.
The two officials submitted their applications on resignation from office on 21 September 2015, invoking “personal considerations.”
Dorin Dragutanu was appointed BNM Governor on 6 November 2009, put forward by the Liberal Party. Dragutanu replaced Leonid Talmaci, who had been leading the National Bank of Moldova for 18 years.
Marin Molosag was appointed BNM deputy governor on 17 December 2009. Molosag also held the post of deputy president of the BNM Administrative Board.
Under the law, the governor of the National Bank of Moldova is appointed by the parliament, at a proposal by the parliament speaker. The first deputy governor and the deputy governors are appointed by the parliament, at a proposal by the BNM governor. The governor is recalled from office at a proposal by the parliament speaker, with the votes of two thirds of the MPs.
