Moldovan deputy premier, Ukrainian ambassador discuss bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/-Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic held a meeting with Ukrainian Ambassador to Moldova Ivan Gnatyshin on 11 March. The officials discussed ways to consolidate cooperation with Ukraine, within Moldova-Ukraine-Romania trilateral format, as well as bilateral trade.
According to Economics Ministry’s press service, Calmic spoke out for the need to enhance cooperation with Ukraine within Moldova-Ukraine-Romania trilateral format, as this will boost up the development of infrastructure projects, energy sector and the access to additional funds in these sectors.
For his part, Gnatyshin voiced Ukraine’s interest in a dialogue within the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission for commercial-economic collaboration and in the meeting of its co-chairmen, due in Kiev in April 2016.
The sides have also broached the enforcement of ecological taxes, import of Ukrainian dairy products, customs and energy collaboration, as well as Ukrainian investments in Moldova.
Moldova and Ukraine have signed over 220 agreements so far, focusing on almost all cooperation areas. According to data of the State Registration Chamber, there were 790 Ukrainian companies in Moldova on 1 January 2016, with a capital accounting for 250 million lei.
