Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/- The court session on the file of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, scheduled for today, has been postponed on health grounds. Prosecutor Adriana Betisor made a statement to this effect today.
The meeting scheduled for 15 was postponed as well, after Liberal-Democrat leader Vlad Filat submitted a petition asking for the session’s postponement on health grounds. “As Filat’s medical investigation had not been done yesterday, at the lawyers’ request, it will be carried out today,” Betisor said.
“Initially, we managed to examine the notification on lifting the objection of unconstitutionality, which is going to be submitted to the Constitutional Court (CC) and then examined. Court sessions will continue to be held and the next one is scheduled for tomorrow, at 10:30,” Betisor noted.
Vlad Filat’s lawyer, Igor Popa said an accident had taken place at the penitentiary No 13, in which Filat had also been involved. “He will be carried to the National Neurology Institute today at 14:00 and doctors will make the necessary investigations. New information is about to appear after they come up with a conclusion,” Popa said.
Businessman Ilan Shor and the manager of Caravita limited liability company, Ion Rusu as well as a witness for the prosecution were heard in court during the latest sessions. Witnesses are heard based on Shor’s self-denouncement, according to which he bribed Filat with 250 million dollars.
