Moldova takes part in biggest European exhibition of wines

Chisinau, 17 March /MOLDPRES/ - About 200 Moldovan wines, cognacs and sparkling wines, produced by 30 wine-making companies from Moldova, participated in the biggest European exhibition of wines, ProWein 2016, staged in Dusseldorf, Germany, on 13-15 March.    

According to organizers, Moldova’s stand, with an area of 180 square metres, was visited by more than 2,500 guests from all over the world. The visitors were met by persons dressed in folk consumes, who offered them presents with promotional bottles, information on century–old traditions of the Moldovan wine-making industry and suggestions on the vine and wine tourism destinations of Moldova.

Wine experts and amateurs were impressed by the visibility the Wine of Moldova had been acquired on the last period. The experts praised the quality of the tasted wines, about which they said that “can compete with the best wines of the wine-making countries that are recognized in the world.”

Director of the National Vine and Wine Office Dumitru Munteanu said that, every year, the Wine of Moldova managed to record new progress, thus becoming more and more known on the international stage. “All those who participated in the events organised in Dusseldorf at our country’s stand had only worlds of praise for the exhibited goods. I think that our participation in ProWein 2016 brought an important contribution to enhancing the fame of the country brand internationally and I am sure that, by joint efforts, we will manage to make it known all over the world,” Munteanu added.   

For the third year in a row, Moldova participated in the biggest European exhibition of wines and alcoholic drinks, ProWein, under the aegis of the country wine brand „Vinul Moldovei. O legendă vie” (Wine of Moldova. A Legend Alive). The country’s participation in the event was organised and financed by the National Vine and Wine Office, with the support of the strategic development partner, USAID Competitiveness Project, as well as of the CBI programme.   

This year issue of the ProWein exhibition brought together 6,200 exhibitors from 59 countries, and was visited by 55,000 people.
