La Francophonie secretary general to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/-Secretary General of the Foreign and European Integration Ministry Anatol Vangheli met Director of the Regional Bureau for Central and Eastern Europe of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF), Chantal Moreno, in Chisinau, on 18 April. The officials held prior negotiations on the upcoming visit of IOF Secretary General Mickaelle Jean to Moldova, on 27 and 28 May 2016, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
Vangheli said Moldova paid high attention to its cooperation with IOF and each of its member and observer states. He also noted that Moldova spoke out for a greater regional presence of IOF and for a more enhanced cultural diversity of the IOF in Moldova. On this occasion, the secretary general informed the director of the regional bureau of the initiation of the creation process of the Group of Francophone Embassies in Chisinau.
Moreno praised Moldova’s intention to deepen its ties with IOF and welcomed the actions taken to consolidate its partnership with the Francophonie. She also praised the promotion of the French language and congratulated Moldova on the 20th year since its adherence to IOF.
The official visit of IOF secretary general in Chisinau is part of a tournament in IOF’s member-states with full rights, and namely, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova, due on 23-28 May 2016. The visit aims to consolidate La Francophonie in Central and Eastern Europe, boost up cooperation with Moldova and celebrate its 20th anniversary since its adherence to IOF.
