Moldovan deputy foreign minister has meetings with German foreign ministry officials

Chisinau, 19 April /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii today met officials of the German Foreign Ministry, on the sidelines of the fourth issue of the East Forum Berlin, held in the capital of Germany on 18-19 April, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
At a meeting, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Transnistrian Settlement, Ambassador Cord Meier-Klodt and Lilian Darii exchanged opinions on aspects of the Transnistrian conflict settlement process. Deputy Minister Darii noted that the Moldovan authorities were resolute to resume the five-plus-two negotiations as soon as possible and thanked the German authorities for the efforts undertaken to this end. The officials also discussed prospects for identifying a viable solution to the Transnistrian conflict, by observing Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and adoption of a special status for Transnistria.
The debates held with Political Director of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany Andreas Michaelis and the head of the Division of Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe, Central Asia and North Caucasus at the German Chancellery Ioachim Bertele were focused on a wide spectrum of issues on the Moldovan-German bilateral agenda. The officials stressed the importance to promote the democratic reforms in Moldova and the German authorities’ willingness to provide assistance in this process. Lilian Darii reaffirmed the Moldovan government’s commitment to carry out an ambitious package of reforms, focused on stimulating economic development and improving the residents’ living standards, boosting the fight against corruption, as well as the justice reform.
