Moldovan parliament, government, civil society to ensure more active involvement of citizens in decision-making processes

Chisinau, 28 April /MOLDPRES/- The opportunity to create a trilateral mechanism of communication and cooperation between parliament, government and civil society was discussed by the three sides at a working meeting on 27 April. The event aimed at identifying concrete solutions to more actively involve citizens in decision-making processes ,both at legislatve and executive levels, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Attending the event were Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici, Prime Minister Pavel Filip, representatives of the civil society and development partners.
The participants in the talks reviewed the the present institutional mechanisms of cooperation with civil society and , proceeding from the need to increase the citizens’ involvement in the decision-taking processes, as well as to efficiently orient efforts of the associative sector, they ruled to create a working group, which will propose the best solutions to this end during a month.
“We want to relaunch cooperation with civil society and we come up with the initiative to create a trilateral mechanism, proving openness for the commitment to more actively involve the society in the decision-making process. It is necessary to implement new instruments, through which we should ensure efficient circulation of documents, quality and sustainability of efforts in the nonprofit sector”, Candu said.
The speaker said that the trilateral mechanism would contribute to ensuring a fluent circulation of draft decisions and would allow the civil society to involve in the initial stage of elaborating policy documents, as well as to assess them in due time, at any level, including to participate in debating them in the relevant commissions and at parliament plenary meetings.
“By launching this mechanism, we are set to regain the citizens’ trust in the public institutions and authorities, as well as to contribute to independence of the associative sector, regardless of the circumstances and changes on the political stage. This platform will serve, first of all, the interests of the citizens”, the speaker said.
For his part, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the government was interested in promoting a sincere and open dialogue with the civil society in carrying out the governance act.
