Moldovan foreign minister attends conference on blue economy of Black Sea

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur participated in the third conference on the blue economy of the Black Sea in Odessa today. The event was organized jointly by the European Commission and the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, with the motto, “Towards a Better Integration,” the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The participants in the event discussed the latest developments and challenges in the Black Sea region, ensuring an increasing synergy of the economies of the riparian countries and turning to good account the social, economic and tourism potential of the region.
In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Galbur stressed the need to strengthen the role of the Black Sea basin regionally and internationally, in order to get concrete economic results, attract investments and create new jobs. In this respect, the minister highlighted the need to implement projects in the transport infrastructure field. Galbur noted that this would ensure the extension and improvement of the present infrastructure and would guarantee the region’s sustainable development, in particular, the sectors of tourism, as well as the turning to good account of the cultural heritage of the countries, in line with the Blue Economy and Growth.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Moldovan official had a bilateral meeting with EU Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Karmenu Vella. At the meeting, Andrei Galbur reiterated Moldova’s commitment to press ahead with the reforms and modernizing the country through a sustained implementation of the Association Agreement’s provisions.
