Chisinau, 22 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the beginning of a today’s cabinet meeting, demanded that decision-makers from more ministries create a working group to elaborate a package of laws to fight the domestic violence.
“I think that time is ripe that we regulate a problem which seriously affects our society. It is about the domestic violence. This is a real problem. You may daily see beaten women, abused children in the media and the aggressors seem to laugh in our faces,” the prime minister said.
About 13 per cent of the offences represent the domestic violence. “This is a revolting figure,” the PM said, stressing that the legislative is too permissive with those who aggress their relatives. “The problem is complex, we need an enhancement of punishments, but we also need to give the abused persons real chances to lead their lives far from aggressors. The creation of shelters or the toughening of punishments is insufficient,” Pavel Filip added.
