Moldovan premier instructs creating negotiators' team to start discussions on new Memorandum with IMF

Chisinau, 4 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today signed an instruction on the creation of a group of negotiators due to participate in the negotiation of the Memorandum on economic and financial policies between Moldova’s cabinet and the International Monetary Fund, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.      

Under the instruction, the group of negotiators will be led by Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic. The group will also be made of Finance Minister Octavian Armasu, Labour, Social Protection and Family Minister Stela Grigoras and National Bank of Moldova Governor Sergiu Cioclea.  

According to the same instruction, a working group was set up for considering and developing a strategic programme on financial support by IMF, led by Deputy Economics Minister Vitalie Iurcu. The group will include 20 persons, among whom the government’s secretary general, the principal state adviser of the prime minister on development policies, public administration and international cooperation, deputy ministers, as well as more officials of competent institutions.    

In conformity with the PM’s instruction, the group of negotiators will start identifying and coordinating government’s priorities, which will be part of the new draft Memorandum. Also, the group will negotiate and present for approval the new draft Memorandum on economic and financial policies between the Moldovan government and IMF.      

At the same time, the working group will assist the team of negotiators in the process of preparing the Memorandum, as well as the process of its negotiation, and will elaborate proposals to carry out all commitments taken.   

It is worth mentioning that a new mission of the International Monetary Fund will visit Chisinau on 5-15 July 2016.
