Independent candidate submits application on initiative group to gather signatures

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ – Independent candidate Valeriu Ghiletchi submitted today to the Central Election Commission (CEC) application for registration of initiative groups to collect signatures in support to the presidential elections of 30 October this year.

Valeriu Ghiletchi declared that his initiative group was created on August 31 this year. "I have no doubt that we will collect the necessary signatures, within two weeks I hope us to do with it, already. As announced previously, I want an election campaign which is free, fair, objective and without personal attacks. We have taken a very long list of problems already going to come with electoral program and the national idea, family, peace and prosperity will be the key words found in it," said Ghiletchi.

Valeriu Ghiletchi is a professional radio and telecommunications engineer. From 2009 he was a deputy in the parliament from the PLDP, now an independent MP.

Within three days from the receipt of the documents submitted, the CEC shall verify the accuracy of the requests and decide on registration or refusal of registration of the initiative group.

Also today, CEC registered more initiative groups to collect signatures in support of the first nine candidates in the presidential election. They are: PSRM – Igor Dodon, PDM – Marian Lupu, PL – Mihai Ghimpu, PPEM – Iurie Leanca, Partidul Platforma Demnitate si Adevar (Party Platform Dignity and Truth) – Andrei Nastase,  Partidul Actiune si Solidaritate (Action and Solidarity Party) – Maia Sandu and Partidul Nostru (Our Party) – Dmitri Ciubasenco, also Mihai Corj and Artur Croitor – individual applicants.
