National Coordination Council for Regional Development approves funds for 19 infrastructure projects

Chisinau, 2 September /MOLDPRES/ - The National Coordination Council for Regional Development (CNCDR), led by Deputy Prime Minister Octavian Calmic, Minister of Economy, approved in its meeting today, 19 infrastructure projects worth 149,2 million lei, which will be financed from the Fund for national regional development.

According to Deputy Minister Octavian Calmic, regional development is a priority of the Moldovan government and the projects in question come as a real support in the implementation of programs to achieve this objective. "Given the fact that we are already on the end of the year and is a matter of absorption of financial resources, we have focused to support ongoing projects," said Minister of Economy.

The ME's press service informed that CNCDR decided for North to allocate 54 million lei, Center - 34,3 million lei, South almost 46 million lei and for Gagauzia - 5 million lei.

Mostly, over 16 million lei, are destined for the rehabilitation of street Ion Spirit in Cahul, which is a road of regional importance, and the other about 16 million lei will be allocated for the construction of Centre "Pro Cariera" (PRO Career) in Otaci. For road repair Taraclia-Ceadir-Lunga are reserved 15 million lei, and another 10 million lei are for building wastewater treatment plant in Telenesti. Most of the approved projects are already underway.

Vasile Bitca, Constructions and Regional Development Minister, emphasized that approved projects are in four areas, including road construction, water supply and sanitation to rural communities, solid waste collection and increase tourist attractiveness.

Also at the meeting were discussed preliminary results of the design contest launched this year by the Ministry of Regional Development and Constructions. For the second stage 147 complete applications were submitted for financing amounting to about 3,9 million lei to be selected among the best and submitted for approval to be funded.
