Moldovan Socialists' leader starts electoral campaign

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ – The leader of the Socialist Party of Moldova (PSRM) Igor Dodon launched today in the campaign for presidential elections of 30 October this year.

Igor Dodon will occupy the eighth position on the ballot and his election slogan will be – Moldova has a future.

At the official launch, PSRM leader said that this campaign "PSRM will focus on  three main issues – statehood, neutrality and Moldovan identity. Strong economy and social justice. Orthodox faith and friendly relations with the Russian Federation. Every week we will release the detailed program for each of these chapters," said Igor Dodon.

At the same time, Dodon specified that "initiated first decrees as president will be: return the stolen billion, re-launch economic relations with the Russian Federation and counter any action against anti-national elements. Our task is to emerge victorious in this election race and prove that Moldova has a future," said the leader of PSRM.

Igor Dodon was born on 18 February 1975 in Sadova village, Calarasi district. He is an economist. During September, 2006-2008 he was the Minister of Economy and Trade. Since 2009 he is the deputy in the parliament.

The electoral campaign for the presidential polls started today. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has registered eight candidates as contenders for the office of Moldovan president so far: Marian Lupu on behalf of PDM, Mihai Ghimpu – Liberal Party, Iurie Leanca – European People’s Party of Moldova, Andrei Nastase – Dignity and Truth Political Party, Ina Popenco – Ravnopravie (Equality of Rights), Dumitru Ciubasenco – Our Party, Maia Sandu – Action and Solidarity Party and Igor Dodon – Party of Socialists. In case of another eight candidates, CEC is to make public its opinion till 6 October.
