Five Moldovans fined for corrupting voters at 2015 local elections

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/- The Criuleni-based Prosecutor’s Office has recently condemned five persons to criminal fines of 10,000 lei for corrupting voters at the 2015 local elections.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, on 27 and 28 June 2015, during the runoff election, defendants offered to more residents of Cimiseni village money worth 50 and 100 lei, as well as bottles of alcoholic beverages. In exchange for these amounts, the villagers were persuaded to vote for a particular candidate for mayor position of settlement. They did it, and the respective candidate won the local election in Cimiseni.
The defendants had not pleaded guilty in the offense.
The sentence can be appealed as provided by law.
