Over twenty eight per cent of voters present to polling stations by 13.00 in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/ – Over 800 thousand of voters (28 per cent) have presented to the polling stations by 13.00 hours.

The chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Alina Russu has stated that at present all polling stations open as in the Republic of Moldova, so abroad develop their activity in a normal mode. “Around eight per cent of the voters are of the range between 18 – 25 years of age, more than twenty one per cent: 26 – 40 years of age, over twenty five per cent – 41 – 55 years old, almost thirty five per cent – 56 – 70 years old and ten per cent represents voters of over 71 years old. According to the data, it has been noted an increase of activeness on behalf of women, who by this hour have presented to polling stations at a rate of 51,5 per cent,” informed Russu.

At the same time, the voting district where there has been registered the highest rate of participation is Ocnita (31,72 per cent), while the lowest one is UTA Gagauzia (21,99 per cent). The locality with the most active voters remains to be Pocrovca in Donduseni district (63,76 per cent). The polling station which has registered the highest rate of participation of the voters is section no. 19 in Hirjauca locality, Calarasi district (66,95 per cent), and the opposite being section no. 14 in Caracusenii Vechi locality, Briceni district (7,9 per cent).

 “Till this hour, there have not registered incidents or major violations. At the Central Election Commission (CEC) have not been forwarded contestations on the acts of the electoral candidates or decisions and actions of the inferior electoral bodies. In accordance with the provisions of electoral legislation, complaints or contestations regarding elections’ organization and development are examined by the electoral bodies, while these ones being submitted in a procedural mode and not posted on social networks or by phone,” specified Russu.

Similarly, in a normal mode develops the voting process abroad. At 15.00 hours, there finishes its activity the polling station in Tokyo, Japan. According to the legal norms, it can extend its activity by two additional hours. Also within the next hours, there will be open ten polling stations opened in Canada and the USA.

For the presidential elections, there are expected 2,8 million citizens.

The first preliminary data on the election results will be announced at about 22.00.
