Moldovan PM meets European official in Brussels

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip has met High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini in Brussels. The dialogue was focused on the reforms promoted by the Moldovan government in various fields, as well as continuation of implementing the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
“The roadmap on priority reforms helped us a lot in getting an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which is a certificate of trust for us. I am confident that we can resume foreign funding. Government pays a special importance to the elaboration of a new Association Agenda with EU that will be an integral part of a new National Plan on Implementing the Association Agreement for 2017-2019,” Filip said.
At the same time, the premier noted that the government was decided to continue implementing the reforms, which would change the citizens’ life. “There are reforms elaborated by us, very important ones, including the pension reform, public administration reform, hospital reform and primary health care reform. We need the political support of the EU, as well as the financial support to implement them,” he said.
For her part, Mogherini appreciated the actions taken by the government in relaunching the reforms, and expressed the EU willingness to back carrying out the reform agenda meant to improve the quality of life of Moldovans. In the context, the official pointed out the importance of constructive approach between government and presidency for the benefit of Moldovans.
Also, the officials approached the Meeting of Friends of Moldova Group due on 12 December, which would be a good occasion for setting the priorities of cooperation with EU. In the context, Filip invited Mogherini to visit Moldova in early 2017.
