Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – A web platform – www.piata-biomasa.md – referred to biomass energy producers and consumers was launched today at Bioenergy Forum set within Moldova Eco Energy Week, with reference to Energy and Biomass Project experts.
The Information Platform "Biomass and power market", developed by the Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy and Biomass Project in Moldova, funded and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), contains useful information for biofuel producers and consumers as well as suppliers of briquetting, pelletizing and baling equipment, biomass boilers, energy services and other elements of the biofuel market, said Deputy Director of Energy Efficiency Agency, Ion Cozma. According to Dumitru Bostan, Technical University of Moldova (UTM), if it could be used the total biomass potential, then it would cover the energy needs of the public sector or about fifty per cent of the residential sector.
The Forum presented recent statistical survey developed by the National Bureau of Statistics, on trends in energy consumption in domestic sector. The main finding of the study is that more than half of Moldovan households are heated with individual operating stoves on coal or firewood, and saving potential is very high there.
