UN information center opened at National Library of Moldova

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/ – The United Nations Organization today inaugurated at the National Library of Moldova (BNRM) an Information and Documentation Centre.
According to UN’s press release, the event was held at the Forum of Managers of National Libraries, entitled "Libraries involvement in promoting and achieving the Global 2030".
In his speech, UN coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) representative in Moldova, Dafina Gercheva noted that libraries had a key role in communication on Sustainable Development Agenda 2030. In this context, she expressed the hope that the information center would train young people in particular in discussions about solutions to the challenges facing Moldova.
"By providing public access to information and knowledge, libraries can engage in achieving all the objectives of sustainable development," said BNRM General Director, Elena Pintilei.
UN Documentation and Information Centre is open to students, teachers and researchers who are interested in UN efforts to promote democracy, diversity, sustainable development and a healthy environment to everyone. The center also will host discussions events, public lectures, organized jointly by UNO and BNRM.
Also, there are three other UN Information Centres in Moldova: in Balti at "Alecu Russo" University, Regional Public Library in Comrat and Free International University of Moldova (ULIM) in Chisinau.
