Chisinau, 1 December /MOLDPRES/ - About 50 economic agents from Moldova and representatives of more than 30 companies in the pharmaceutical sector from India today brought together at a business forum in Chisinau. The event is organized by the Moldovan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL).

In a greeting speech given at the opening of the event, CCI deputy head Mihai Bilba said that “the bilateral forum’s goal is to present the pharmaceutical industry and traditional medicine of India, familiarize importers, decision-makers, distributors of the Moldovan pharmaceutical industry and medicine with the quality of goods, equipment, technology and services provided, as well as to inform about the process of assessment/registration of medicines in Moldova.” Moldova is fully willing to cooperate with India in the pharmaceutical sector. The Moldovan pharmaceutical market is continuously developing, and producers of medication from India have been present here for a long time, through a wide range of goods and with brands which have presented themselves positively, Bilba noted.

Attending the forum, Deputy Health Minister Liliana Iasan said that, “during years, this forum had already become a true platform of communication and exchange of experience for the entire health system. Year after year, this event essentially contributes to the promotion and application of innovative technologies in medicine. We rely on the fact that the today’s forum will generate new cooperation and will allow placing on Moldova’s market safe, efficient, qualitative and accessible medicines from the economic viewpoint, which are to last and yield good results for the entire society,” the deputy health minister noted.

In his greeting speech, Ravi Chandar, first secretary, economic representative and consular officer of the Indian Embassy in Romania, accredited for Moldova, stressed that India was a world leader in the pharmaceutical sector, and 70 per cent of the pharmaceutical products were generic, of which 20 per cent were exported worldwide. In the context, India is called “the world’s pharmacy” and we hope that the present forum will help extend the cooperation in the pharmaceutical sector between our countries, the Indian diplomat said.

La rîndul său, Executive Director of the PHARMEXCIL Board Raghuveer Kini invited the Moldovan business environment to participate in a yearly exhibition in the pharmaceutical field, traditionally staged in India. Presently, about 650 producers of the sector are registered in India and pharmaceutical products are exported to about 220 countries. “We want that, following bilateral meetings, due to take place between the participants in the forum today, more cooperation contracts are signed and in this way, Moldova’s residents will make sure of the high quality of the Indian pharmaceutical goods,” Raghuveer Kini said.

The Indian delegation pays a visit to Moldova on 30 November – 3 December, in order to initiate cooperation ties with Moldovan organizations and institutions.

Data by the State Registration Chamber shows that 36 enterprises with Moldovan-Indian capital work in Moldova, with an invested capital amounting to 3.6 million lei.
