Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/- The parliament will become a host institution of volunteering activity. Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu made the statement at a festival of volunteers, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.

“The parliament is currently preparing a file of documents to get the status of host institution of volunteer activity. This will allow both the volunteers to involve in the parliament’s activities and MPs and employees of the parliament secretariat to actively participate in different volunteer actions,” Candu said.

The speaker offered diplomas and money prizes to the most active volunteers in the country.

“Volunteers are the ones who can change things. I appreciate and respect their work. They are an entire community who really love their country. They have a nice sense of patriotism and continue holding volunteer actions. A proof that to make beautiful things you do not need laws is the fact that the festival of volunteers represents the 14th issue, and the volunteering law is in force during 6 years,” he said.

Attending the event, Youth and Sports Minister Victor Zubcu congratulated the volunteers, highlighting the importance of culture of volunteering meant to change the country for good.

The festival of volunteers is an event organized annually aimed at recognizing the work and merits of volunteers, as well as encouraging the civil society. The event is backed by the most active organizations meant to promote volunteering and state institutions. It is organized in the context of International Volunteer Day, marked each year on 5 December.
