Chisinau, 7 December /MOLDPRES/- The European Union will support Moldova in developing business environment, as well as implementing the provisions of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA). Representative of the EU Delegation to Moldova Urszula Pallasz made statements in this respect at an economic forum on EU for business in Moldova.
“The economic forum is meant for small and medium entrepreneurs to interact among themselves, to exchange ideas and practices, as well as to see opinions of beneficiaries on the support provided by the EU for developing business. By signing the DCFTA and its entry into force this July, the EU was committed to modernize Moldova in terms of business, and we believe that the rules set in this agreement will increase and improve the business environment, as well as the economy in the country. Also, the authorities have an important role, as they have to ensure a mechanism of tough reforms on combating corruption in order to be able to offer better working conditions for citizens,” the European official said.
For her part, State Secretary of the Economics Ministry Angela Susanu said that the EU had become for Moldova not only the main trade partner, but also a stable and predictable partner. “By signing the free trade agreement, which is a component part of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, a strong and decisive step has been done for complex integration of the national economy with the EU,” Susanu said.
The EU website was launched at the economic forum - EU4business.eu – aimed at improving the business environment and increasing competitiveness, access to information and foreign funding and facilitating the deep and comprehensive free trade area, which is imposed on all six Eastern Partnership countries.
Data by the Economics Ministry show that Moldovan exports to the EU amounted to 63.8 per cent in the first six months of 2016.
The forum is organized by the EU Delegation to Moldova. Over one hundred representatives of the companies participated in the event in 2016.
